Does not require batteries to be in it if you are using the USB, which can cut down on weight. It uses the standard mini USB port jack so I can reuse the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimited-ZIP-USB2-C05-Retractable-USB2-0/dp/B0008ESG8G/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1231102759&sr=8-3" rel="nofollow">zip cables</a> I've already got for my GPS and phone.
